Lionhart Sire Report

Australia’s No.1 Type Sire in the Top 100 APR Sires

Since receiving his initial proof in February 2006, Australia’s first proven Jocko son LIONHART has continued his rise up the Australian APR listings. He has now emerged as one of Australia’s elite Type and Production sires and is one of only 4 bulls in the breed who are over +90 for APR and +1.0 for Overall Type, interesting to note that his sire Jocko is also one of these 4 bulls.

In the past 12 months since his early proof he has added another 30 daughters to now have 60 daughters in 28 herds and has more to be added in 2007. He now boasts an impressive +1.3 for Overall Type and +0.9 for Mammary; He is in the Top 1% of the breed for Milk and Protein and is the No. 1 bull for Rear Udder Width and the No.2 bull for Milk Production.

His sire JOCKO has been the premier Sire of Sons through out the Holstein world for the past 2 years with sons topping the charts through out Europe and the USA. It is with great pleasure that Agri-Gene have been able to introduce LIONHART to Australian dairy farmers.

LIONHART was bred by Master Breeders Terry & Helen Williams from Marion Dale Holsteins. His dam, Marion Dale Lucky is an EX Celsius daughter who was purchased as an embryo from Glomar Holsteins and is out of the famous Glomar Lucky family. His next two dams are both classified Excellent and need no introduction to Australian Holstein enthusiasts – Glomar Blackstar Lucky ET EX1E and Glomar Inspiration Lucky Lucky ET EX2E.

LIONHART’s daughters are extremely milky, of average stature with good rib and capacity and show great dairy characteristics. Their udders are very well put together with good ligament and texture, the highlight being excellent rear udder height and width with very good teat placement. Temperament and Milking Speed is also a feature of his daughters as well as the ability to drop cell counts.

To understand Agri-Gene’s enthusiasm for the future of this outstanding JOCKO son and fully appreciate his achievements so far your need to look at his pedigree influence. LIONHART started with a parent index of +60 APR, his daughters have lifted him to over +90 and this is continuing to rise as more daughters are added. To put this into perspective compare him to his contemporaries amongst the top APR sires, many of these being Donor sons with pedigree influence of up to +160 APR. The fact that they have not reached or exceeded the pedigree index’s put LIONHART’s achievements of over 30 APR points above his expected parent index into perspective.

When you combine this elite production with his excellent type and mammary rating, exceptional milking speed and temperament and outcross pedigree, LIONHART will be hard to ignore for all breeding programs in 2007.
