HOLSTEIN

Showring Highlights – Recent success at the NSW State Holstein Show for a PVPOLICY daughter - Arrallik Policy Meg VG86 who was crowned Reserve Intermediate Champion. In addition to this outstanding achievement Policy Meg was awarded Junior Champion at IDW in 2009 and the NSW State Youth Show in 2008 and was Reserve Intermediate at Sydney Royal in 2009.

Other Highlights – TREGIBBY Gibson daughter - Tregibby TG Lynda is now scored EX93 points. This makes the fourth excellent for Tregibby Gibson who already has Prospect Gibson Beaucoise EX90 points and two bulls scored EX90 and EX91 points.

JERSEY
LTE Highlights - Superb reports on milking FERNJACE and SPARTICUS daughters in the recent LTE Classification run. Fernjace daughters are large framed aggressive herd cows with flat bone, dairy quality and beautiful high wide rear udders.


SPARTICUS daughters are tall, upstanding progeny with beautiful spring and depth of rib with well attached udders and strong ligament. Sparticus also continues to impress farmers milking them having a daughter from the Shirlinn herd – Shirlinn Caesar Starfinch VG87 recently take out the Champion 2 Year Old in the All-Australasian Jersey Photo Competition.


Showring Highlights - A maternal sister “Arethusa Veronicas Comet VG89” to EDVERDICT, GOLDVOLT and SDVALIANT was recently crowned Reserve Grand Champion at the recent Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Canada.

USA Highlights – BW SUREFIRE daughters are proving to be the real deal as they are high in Type and are performing well in the milking shed in the USA. Many of his daughters are starting to calve for the second time and are scoring very well. In the Brentwood herd, USA, there are 31 appraised daughters, 3 are EX and 24 are VG with 13 appraised between 85% and 89%.

One of Surefire’s daughters BW Surefire Jenna M707 produced over 30,000 lbs Milk and 1200 lbs Fat in 361 days. Another daughter BW Surefire Alexia R191 was 3rd in a tough Junior 2-Year Old class at the 2009 Western National Show, USA.

AYRSHIRE
New Release Sires – Brookview Spot On (SPOTLOT) is a new release Gold Label sire with a spot on pedigree. He hails from a leading cow family in New Zealand – Blue Silver with a combination of good Type and Production. This cow family is full of VHC and EX cows.

Showring Highlights – Recent success at the Adelaide Royal Show for TRIDENT progeny saw Geelunga Tri Hilda was crowned Reserve Junior Champion and Roland Lodge American Trixie was crowned Reserve Senior Champion cow.

BROWN SWISS
Showring Highlights - An ageless matriarch again ignites the public’s imagination at the recent World Dairy Expo, USA. Old Mill E Snickerdoodle EX96 2E, dam of Sexed Semen Sire – STARSTRUCK was recently crowned Grand and Reserve Supreme Champion.  

Snickerdoodle is now an eight-time class winner and the only cow in WDE history to be a six-time champion, including Supreme in 2003 and Reserve Supreme in 2008 and 2009.

New Release Sires – Agri-Gene is proud to introduce two new exciting additions to their Brown Swiss listing, SAGITTAIRE and UNION who are both proven sons from France.

SAGGITAIRE is a Hussli son who is the No.1 ISU sire in France who will transmit high Milk Production as well as improve Udders, high and wide rear udders with good fore attachment and Udder Depth. Offers over 1600 Kgs of Milk with a combined Fat and Protein of 110 Kgs.

UNION is a Calving Ease Dominate son who hails from the famous “Nanou” cow family. Daughters have remarkable dairy potential in both Production and Components associated with great Type. Udders are high, well attached and transmit good Feet and Leg composition.

GUERNSEY
New Release Sires – Sunny Valley Levi BRADMAN is a new Release Levi son who hails from one of Australia’s eminent Guernsey cow families, the Bell’s of Brookleigh Guernseys.  This tremendous cow family is renown for its consistency in the milking shed as well as producing outstanding Show Champions. His dam has four ET sisters which are classified VG & EX. Sunny Valley Levi Bradman offers exceptional strength, spring or rib & excellent feet & leg composition.


Showring Highlights – Recent success at the Beaudesert Show for two DIVIDEND daughter’s saw Fernybank Dividend Marigold and Fernybank Dividend Belle taking out Intermediate and Reserve Intermediate championships.

ANGUS
January 2010 EBV Highlights – The release of the January Australian EBV’s confirmed LAWSONS DINKY DI Z191’s place as Australia’s Premier Calving Ease Sire. With over 1200 registered progeny, Dinky Di is the only sire in the breed with +2.1 Birth Weight, over +100 for 600 Day Weight and +2.9 IMF. Dinky Di progeny consistently topped sales for 2009 and he is sure to continue this trend into 2010 and beyond.

BT EQUATOR 395M – Equator 395M added a lot of data in the January EBV run and continued to improve by dropping Birth Weight and adding to his already impressive Growth traits which are in the Top 1% of the breed. He also improved for Milk, Scrotal, CW and Long Fed Index.

KAROO W109 DIRECTION Z181 – Karoo continues to offer up a well balanced set of EBV’s. Now with over 500 registered progeny plus many more commercially, he offers moderate Birth Weight with good Growth. He had good Fertility and Carcase traits with excellent Fat Cover. He is attractive to stud breeders and is priced to be also used in commercial operations.

RITO 4L6 OF 2536 208 – One of the standout performers from the January EBV run, Rito 4L6 is a 208 son from the great ‘2536’ cow who has broken all records for progeny sales. With Birth Weight at +3.6 and 600 Day Growth over +100, he improved his EBV’s for both Maternal and Direct Calving Ease, Scrotal, Yield, IMF, $Indexes and had huge increase for EMA which saw him move from +5.8 to +7.9.

BT RIGHT TIME 24J – Farmer Favorite and Popular Cow Maker Right Time 24J was another to impress with his high reliability and well balanced EBV’s. A trait leader for Growth, Carcase and Fertility, he also again increased for Scrotal, IMF and all $Indexes.

GAR PREDESTINED – SEXED SEMEN AVAILABLE -Leading USA sire Predestined is now available in Australia as SEXED FEMALE semen. Predestined also had a huge impact on the January EBV’s where he is the highest USA Angus sire in the breed for IMF at a whopping +3.4. Now with almost 2000 progeny, he improved across the board and it was pleasing to see his Birth Weight drop and 600 Day Growth increase along with his CW, EMA & Fat Cover.

EDGE Update - The first new Australian bull for our 2010 EDGE line-up will be the high selling bull at The Grange Angus Dispersal – THE GRANGE ICONIC D140. Well muscled with very good structure, ICONIC is a GAR Predestined son from a Papa Equator cow out of an imported USA cow family that has already produced breed leading sires such as 5050, Pinacle, Paramount and Everest.

He has a good set of EBV’s with a good spread from Birth to Growth and Top 5% for Carcase Weight, EMA, IMF and all $Indexes. With last years EDGE bulls Invincible and Candybar being fully allocated early in the year, do not miss your chance to get ICONIC while he is available at the EDGE price of $12.50 per straw.

LIMOUSIN
New Release Sire – CYAN PO has already created excitement amongst Limousin breeders with his first shipment arriving in December. The first Polled French bull to be released by Sersia, he is the only French Polled bull recognized by the French Herd Book.

BLONDE D AQUITANE
New Release Sire – BLACKWATER AINSLEY is a new release Blonde bull from the UK who offers Calving Ease with added Muscle and good Fat Cover. He was the record high selling Blonde bull in the UK.

CHAROLAIS
New Release Sire – ALEX is a new Charolais sire imported from Ireland with a full French pedigree. His sire Rodin has been a major show champion in France while his dam was the highest Maternal Index cow in France at +154.

SIMMENTAL
New Release Sire – HOOKS INFINITI – Homozygous Black and Homozygous Polled. Infiniti is an outcross Black Simmental to the Dream In and Lucky lines. Thick, Docile and Phenotypically Flawless, Infiniti offers Calving Ease with Ribeye Area and Marbling in the Top 1%.

SANTA GERTRUDIS
New Release Sire – New Australian Santa Gertrudis bull, WILGAROON KOKODA displays enormous Growth, good Structure, impeccable Temperament and Thickness with an impressive Topline.

Agri-Gene Spring ABV Highlights - August 2010


Holstein
The Release of the August 2010 ABV’s has once again demonstrated the Strength of the Agri-Gene Holstein Line-Up.

Breed Legend JOCKO has once again confirmed his position amongst the Holstein greats by adding more daughters and once again increasing for APR and all Production traits. He is in the Top 1% of the breed in Australia for APR, Protein, Milk and also Farmer Likeability which is a testament to the fact that combined with his impressive Production traits he produces daughters with great Udders that have Ligament Strength and are made to last.

2010 Australian PT Graduate sire IDEALPRIDE had another impressive proof and despite being still short on daughter numbers he increased for Milk Production and while adding another 6 daughters to his Type proof he increased for no less than 16 individual Type traits. He also increased for important secondary traits such as Calving Ease, Cell Counts and Survival, these traits when combined with his Type and positive Components for Production suggest that he will represent great value for the upcoming Spring matings.

Another Australian bull who continues to impress on second crop is LIONHART who has added 169 second crop daughters since April and increased for APR and offers a great all round Calving Ease option.

Second Crop Success story bull from France, REXONDI now has 130 daughters in 40 herds in Australia and received his first Australian production proof which saw him jump 20 points on APR and is one of the highest bulls available for ASI, Protein and Milk.

Other big movers on the Interbull ranking from France included new O-Man son VOUSTER who is one of the highest bulls available and offers great Profitability with excellent Health traits and extreme Components. Vouster was one of the finds from Graham Heaver’s Farmer Tour to France earlier this year.

VOSAC is another O-Man son who has been a very popular bull all over the world and Australia is no exception. He is receiving high use for his combination of Health and Fitness traits with breed leading Type and Udders. He would surely have to be one of the leading O-Man sons on the market who allows you to improve Functional traits such as Fertility, Longevity and SCC without sacrificing Type or Production.

We are getting good reports on the first milking STOLJOC daughters in Australia and are eagerly awaiting more daughters to calve in the Spring for this International Sire of Sons who also increased on his already impressive Interbull proof in August.

From the USA ERNESTO continues to impress, now with 237 milking daughters he again increased for TPI and is one of the best for Udders with scores of over +4 for Rear Udder Width, Ligament and Teat Placement. He has been used heavily in Australia as a great value Sexed Semen sire and his first Australian daughters will be calving this Spring with much anticipation.

From the Genomics point of view 2 of Agri-Gene’s most popular US Genomic bulls continue to see high use in Australia, they include; Ronelee Toystory DOMAIN and popular Bolton son Wabash-Way EXPLODE. Both bulls are amongst the highest TPI bulls available while new to the Agri-Gene line-up is ELITE who is a full brother to Explode’s dam, the famous Wabash-Way Emilyann who is currently one of the highest contracted cows in the USA.

Also new to Agri-Gene’s line-up are 2 Red Carrier Genomic bulls – Brunner MR TOP, a Goldwyn x Talent bull whose Type from the August proofs increased to +19 in Canada and +3.7 in the USA, making him the undisputed No.1 Type RC/Red bull in the breed.

Joren RAPTOR another Goldwyn x Talent who is also one of the best for Type and goes back to the WDE Champion Renita Ranger Red.


Jersey
The Jersey highlight from the August 2010 ABV proof run was without a doubt the performance of outstanding prospect Australian bull SANDBLAST. While still short on daughter numbers to receive his official proof, Sandblast added more daughters since receiving his initial April proof and shot up another 46 APR points. He also increased for ASI, Protein, Fat and Mammary and will be an extreme Component Improver.

Other Australian bulls to feature were high Type bull FERNJACE who held up his place amongst the top Type bulls in the breed and pleasingly increased his Production proof by 35 ASI points and 12 Kgs of Fat and Protein while adding another 15 daughters.

SPIRITUAL remains one of the highest Type APR bulls on the market, he continues to provide outstanding Farmer Satisfaction and will Improve Overall Type, Udders, Capacity and Strength.

From the USA TBONE continues to lead the way and he had a great August proof run where he added over 500 daughters to his proof. He now has over 2,000 daughters and jumped from 95 to 130 JPI and is one of the highest Type and Udder Index bulls available.

New USA Outcross Sire – KANOO’s first semen shipment is available this month, he is an Impuls son from an EX Henery – P cow with 2 records of over 27,000 Lbs with a 9.5% Fat Test. He offers high Production with good Components and will leave snug, well attached Udders with good Ligament Strength.
