AGRI-GENE AUGUST 2008 HIGHLIGHTS

The latest release of the August 2007 ABV’s has again highlighted the dominance of JOCKO and his sons within the Holstein breed. Now with over 550 daughters milking in Australia to add to his 80,000 plus daughters in France we are seeing how his Australian ABV’s are starting to catch up with the rest of the world. Since the May proofs he has added a further 53 daughters and again increased for all production traits and now sits at +107 APR and is one of few bulls in the breed over +100 for APR and over +1.0 for Overall Type and Mammary.
Jocko’s best Australian son is without a doubt LIONHART. Lionhart is out of three generations of Excellent cows and now has 60 daughters in 28 herds and continues to add both Type and Production as more daughters are coming into milk. He added another 7 points of APR to now sit at +97 APR and also increased +5 for ASI, +66 for Milk and another 5 Kgs for combined Fat and Protein. His excellent Type ranking of +1.3 for Overall Type and +0.9 for Mammary ranks him as the Number 1 Type bull in the Top 100 APR Sires.

Other highlights from the Agri-Gene Holstein line-up were the continued improvement of 2007 Graduates KINDOR and JOCKSTAR. Kindor continues to impress all who have inspected his daughters for their capacity, strength and quality of udders. A convincer son from arguably one of Shotime’s best daughters, the $34,000 Kindara Shotime Sonia EX4E. KINDOR now has 78 daughters in 36 herds and maintained his excellent Type and Mammary ranking while improving for APR, Protein% & Protein Kgs and Milk. He now has over 700 litres of Milk, 30 Kgs of Fat, +1.2 for Overall Type, +0.9 for Mammary and also has excellent workabilities to with his calving ease ranking of 98%.
JOCKSTAR remains a bull with huge potential and one to keep an eye on for the future. He is a Jocko son out of an imported ET Fatal from one of the most prestigious cow families in France for producing bulls, the Galto Star’s. He has now increased to +85 APR and improved again on his May proof for Milk, Fat and Protein. His daughters are displaying plenty of style and dairyness with very good udders showing great ligament and teat placement. With more daughters to come into his proof for 2007, we believe JOCKSTAR could be a bull to rival LIONHART as Australia’s best Jocko son next year. Without a doubt he is one of the best value new sires for 2007.
Idealags remains a fixture amongst the Top APR bulls and now has 3000 daughters milking in Australia. Other bulls of note amongst the Interbull proofs from France are PATUR AD, who is one of the highest production bulls available at +122 APR and was one of the stand out bulls from this years French Tour. PEGASE, RONLY, RADICAL and ROUKI all increased on the Interbull rankings but the biggest move came from new comer SUBURN who is a full brother to the leading French Sire ROUMARE. Suburn moved up 12 points on APR and also increased for all his production traits. He has an excellent Type rating in France of +3 and comes from an incredible maternal line; Dam EX92, 2nd Dam EX92, 3rd Dam EX93 and 4th Dam EX92 – All with excellent Udders.
New from the USA for Spring 2007 is the No.6 TPI Sire Autumn-Ridge BOJANGLES, a Manat son with huge production, positive components and is over +2 in the USA for Overall Type plus Rear Udder Height and Width. Also new from the USA is Gold Label Sire REDADVANTAGE, an Advent son from 8 generations of VG or EX cows. Red Advantage has been selling extremely well since the first shipment arrived last month.

The highlight from the latest proofs for the Agri-Gene Jersey Team was the release of BW SPECIAL FORCES, sired by one of the most popular former Gold Label sires BW Country, out of an Excellent 93% BW Legion daughter. Special Forces is a Proven sire at Gold Label price who currently sits at No.28 on the USA JPI Lists. He is also the equal No.1 Type bull in the USA Top 50 JPI rankings. Good reports on early progeny calving in the US, daughters are siring a combination of Stature, Strength and Dairyness.
Other highlights include the continued performance of Type and Production Specialist Sil-Mist Montana BLAIR. In the USA Blair added over 200 second crop daughters and is still ranked amongst the Top 10 sires for Type at +2.2, Udder Depth and Teat Placement. BLAIR daughters are extremely consistent with very shallow well attached udders with great teat placement. BLAIR is a sire that can be used to increase Stature, Dairy Character and Overall Type. He was one of the highest use Jersey Sires in our 2006 line-up and will continue to see high use for farmers wanting to add Positive Components to their Jerseys.
Component Specialist – Sunset Canyon MAXIMUM, son of the legendary Tenn Haug E Maid EX93 once against maintained his high ranking amongst the Top 10 USA Sires for JPI at 192, Fat, PTA Fat Percent, Cheese Merit Dollars, Net Merit Dollars and Foot Angle. MAXIMUM is a sire that can be used to maximize Stature, Strength, Mammary Systems and Overall Dairy Form. MAXIMUM is available in Agri-Gene Sexed Semen Packages of 20 Straws Conventional / 10 Straws Sexed $45 per straw.
Sunset Canyon APPARITION is a Perimeter son, also descending from the “MAID” cow family. He is a full brother former Agri-Gene Gold Label Specialist Sire MARINER who remains in the Top 10 rankings in the USA for Fat, PTA Fat & Protein Percents, Cheese Merit Dollars, Net Merit Dollars and Foot Angle. CONNECTION has enhanced his reputation as being a great show type sire with index, siring the blue-ribbon type Internationally. He sires a unique combination of positive components with impressive Type in the USA at +2.4. He is currently the No.5 LPI Sire in Canada. Now deceased, there will be limited semen available for 2007.
Also new to our Gold Label line up is Bridon SC EXCAVATE, a Centurion son out of one of Canada’s most eminent show and brood cows, Jasper Renaissance Evening EX91 who has two records over 10,000kg Milk at nearly 6% Fat. She was crowned Reserve Grand Champion at the RAWF as a 3 year old in 2003, Intermediate Champion RAWF 1997-98.

The latest proofs saw a major breakthrough for the Agri-Gene Ayrshire Progeny Test Program with 2 PT graduate bulls now in the top 10 available bulls on APR.
Trident son, AVAGOBLOKE moved up 16 points on APR to be the biggest mover from the August proofs while AUSAUSSIE has also held his spot amongst the top bulls and now has almost 100 daughters in his proof.
Two new bulls from the UK by super sire McCormick Nelsen are now in the country and are available as Gold Label Sires. The 2 bulls, Hunnington Mandella and Ravenhill Enigma are both out of Ex 3 cows from the best cow families the UK has to offer.
