AGRI-GENE MAY 2002 ABV's & ABV(i)'s

The May release of Australian Breeding Values and Interbull ABV(i)'s has seen the Agri-Gene team prove their worth for not only the Number 1 sires but also sires of sons.

In the Holsteins the Number 1 ABV bull is the French sire Gibbon at +140 APR. GIBBON is a Southwind son from a Starwar cow which enables wide use across Australia's Holstein population, being an outcross to Blackstar and Mascot bloodlines.

GIBBON excels in Protein yields with excellent Workabilities and Somatic Cell Count ranking. With a type ranking of +1.1, GIBBON adds capacity , body depth and muzzle width to his progeny along with great udder texture and ligament strength. GIBBON now has 153 daughters in 68 herds with only 11% records in progress makes his production proof one of the most reliable at 94%.

FATAL ranks as number 7 with an increase of +1 in his APR at +123, still ahead of all his sons. FATAL obviously is a great sire of sires all over the world.
Australian breeders can still use this super sire with semen available for at least 2002.

A new French sire, MUIZON, is ranked number 9 on APR with +121. MUIZON is an Eastland Cash son from a Mascot dam. MUIZON debuts with +32 for Protein, +27 for Fat with solid type, good workabilities and a better than average Somatic Cell Count.

SOUBEAU is an evergreen bull that is very dependable at +101 APR. SOUBEAU is -16 for Somatic Cell Count and -16 for Liveweight and is gaining a good reputation as an easy calving sire.

SHOWBIZ is the undisputed Component King of the Holsteins with deviations of +1.00 for Fat% and +0.26 for Protein% along with an APR of +86.

In the Jerseys COMFORT ROYAL ALF sons continue to dominate Jersey rankings with No.1, No. 2 and No. 4 sires being Alf sons.

ROCK ELLA PARAMOUNT makes a Top 10 position ranked at +123 APR whilst Alf is in the Top 20 at +115, the only Jersey in the Top 30 with over 3,000 daughters.

In the Ayrshires ARDROSSAN EV KATES TRIDENT will be No. 1 Ayrshire with semen available at this stage.

On the ABV(i) Interbull listings, Agri-Gene / Sersia France sires again topped the Holstein listing with JANZE MOUN returning to Number 1 with an APR of +146. JANZE has been Number 1 for all but 4 months for the past 3 years. Australian farmers are thrilled with the yearling daughters of this super sire. The French dairying industry has has been selecting for Protein and low Somatic cell counts for the past 20 years and the policy now reflects the number of French Holsteins at the top of the Interbull rankings.

One of the interesting facts in the Holstein world internationally is not only the French Holsteins in high rankings but also the number of sons of French sires with sons in the top rankings. GIBBON now has two sons in the top 15, one in Italy and one in France.

In the Jersey ABV(i) listing, MOLLY BROOK BERRETTA FLYER comes in at +126 APR and MVF BOLD VENTURE DANIEL at +116 APR.

The May 2002 ABV release confirms the position of Agri-Gene as whilst a smaller select team, Agri-Gene is the Number 1 source of genetics.

These ABV results follow closely behind the USA proof release on the 13th May.

In the USA Jersey T.P.I listing, Agri-Gene has four of the Top 10 sires, MOLLY BROOK POSEIDON ADVENTURE, FOREST GLEN BARBERS JOHN, ROCK MAPLE BROOK MANNIX and MVF BOLD VENTURE DANIEL.

ROCK ELLA PARAMOUNT comes in at No. 16 and is the highest type in the Top 30 Bulls.

In the USA Holstein T.P.I listing, Agri-Gene sires are featured at Number 9, MR SHIPSHOLM GLENWOOD and SANDY-VALLEY FORBIDDEN, both these bulls are being used as sires of sons and both are excellent Type and Production sires with Udder Composites over +2.00 on the USA rankings.
